Job Description
Full-time
The Arbor Company is looking for a Regional Director of Resident Care (Nursing) to help oversee our assisted living and memory care communities. The ideal candidate is located in Maryland or Pennsylvania. The Regional Nurse is responsible for the clinical oversight of the Resident Care and Memory Care Departments in 10-12 communities located in the Mid Atlantic (VA, MD, PA). He/she works collaboratively with operations, sales, and engagement partners to support community leadership teams. Overnight travel by car and plane is required, as is the willingness to travel to all Arbor Communities as requested.
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
Resident Care Department Oversight
- Provide routine, periodic on-site visits to assigned communities and others as requested to include resident care department support.
- Review accuracy of resident assessments and use of Resident Assistant task sheets.
- Review compliance with Arbor standards, systems, and policies for resident care delivery, documentation, quality assurance monitoring, and reporting, incident reports, electronic medication record, and other areas identified on visits.
- Complete a written report/summary of visit and notes for the Resident Care Director and Executive Director on recommendations and follow-up needed within 48 hours of visit.
- May assume day-to-day responsibilities, on a temporary basis, for Resident Care Directors in communities with an open position.
- Implement Arbor Resident Care Department policies, systems, and training programs in new communities.
- Provide clinical consultation and support to Resident Care Directors on questions related to resident care, infection control, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
Staff Development & Training
- Assists the Senior VP of Resident Care and Executive Directors with the recruitment, training, and orientation of new Resident Care Director and Memory Care Directors as assigned.
- Assists in the Resident Care Department transition of new communities.
- Provides assistance with Medication Tech Training in assigned communities.
- Assists with the quarterly new leadership training of new resident care and memory care leaders.
- Champion and support with the training of Resident Assistant Preceptors.
- Support and assist with the implementation of new programs in assigned communities. Example: staff orientation, EMAR system, Arbor Service Way initiatives, new resident care policies, and procedures.
Risk Management, Quality Assurance, and Compliance
- Provide ongoing QA monitoring of resident care and services along with compliance of Arbor standards during on-site visits and remotely via management of data and reports.
- Completes review of weekly and monthly QA reports with assigned communities, assisting with problem-solving and implementation of QA plans.
- Provides review and recommendations for reportable event documents and occurrences.
- Assists with responses to state survey citations.
- Supports and maintains compliance with safe work practices and worker injury prevention programs.
Miscellaneous
- May assist with duties of nursing staff in the absence of permanent staff in those positions.
- Attends quarterly Resident Care Director clinical training and meetings.
- Participates in workgroups and special projects as assigned.
- Provides assistance with the development or revision of Resident Care Policies and Procedures.
- Maintains liaison relationships with local pharmacies, rehab, and third-party providers through regular meetings and communication.


Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited RN program with current license.
- Experience in a regional nurse or QA role desirable.
- At least 3 years of experience in a Resident Care Director role in Assisted Living.
- Experience with training and development duties.
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
- Willingness to travel and work extended hours if necessary. Must have the ability to manage own travel arrangements for airfare, hotel, and car expenses and submit for reimbursement.
